Long, long, ago in a distant land there was literally paradise on earth where everyone treated life as holy and sacred. Instead of traffic lights on every street corner there stood tall stone tablets full of inscriptions with spiritual messages like “I am my brother’s keeper” and “When I help a stranger I help myself”. This culture had no sports stars or athlete champions. What they did have were some individuals that became like heroes, even to the point of being emulated by masses of people, because they did the most good deeds for the community. There was no stealing, no lying , little unkindness of any kind. It was a golden age. The place was India 5,000 years ago.
It is hard for our modern ego to accept that there have been other civilizations on earth far more advanced culturally than us. Taking a step further and applying the same pumped up modern ego towards alien races well, just don’t go there, as many cannot handle it. My dear reader, for the moment let us forget about our modern artificial egos, and look at the legacy that this ancient earth culture, the India of old, has left us in the form of the Vedas and other holy scriptures.
Vedic literature is old. Very old. They are the oldest written records of mankind predating Buddha (500 BC) by several thousand years. Its teachings are rich and vast and many of its spiritual and metaphysical principles can be applied today. These technologies appear lost but the reality is spiritual knowledge is never lost it just seems to disappear. In fact many people are using methods today that are explained in the sacred Vedic texts. The physical movements of yoga and the mind development practice using a mantra are two examples of personal development methods that come from the Vedas. These methods are common in the west.
Yoga Sutras of Patanjali
During my time in the esoteric circle , studying with my old teacher, and desperately trying to get my head around such ancient texts as the YOGA SUTRAS OF PATANJALI I remember being challenged and at the same time delighted by the information in the sutras. I appreciate my old teacher’s ways and wisdom, she taught me much, and if I am any good at what I do today it is because I had the opportunity to stand on the shoulders of giants in knowledge and wisdom. For this I am eternally grateful. Every day that goes past I give a silent prayer to the ether, a thank you, to those I studied with and the rich spiritual heritage I inherited.
Yes dear reader the Vedic knowledge of India contains many secrets. The Bhagavad Gita and the Mahabharata are two examples of powerful written teachings. Some scholars have suggested that ancient India was populated by farmers. Yet Hitler himself, prior to World War Two, knew enough to launch holy relic expeditions across the world because he understood the value of sacred and occult knowledge and desired as much esoteric information he could get his hands on.
The swastika is a very ancient symbol in the Hindu literature and can give one much power. It worked. Hitler for some time and for several years was indeed unbeatable. Nevertheless his degraded psyche was not powerful enough to pull it off and he lost. This is a common story, and outcome, for individuals who use siddhis, or spiritual superpowers for personal gain, instead of for the benefit of everyone in the community and the greater good for all.
Ancient Methods that Work Today
The powerful and sacred tradition of mantra comes from the Vedic texts. There are many today in the West who use some form of mantra as the basis of their meditation practice. The famous Maharishi, who taught the Beatles meditation, built and entire spiritual practice around the science of mantra. He was a true sage who popularized meditation and spiritual practices.
Mantras do have the ability to alter consciousness. Mantras are an effective way to influence the subconscious mind. The application of a mantra is very powerful and has the ability to alter one’s vibration and health. They also have a beneficial influence with one’s etheric field.
Vedic mantras can be used for more applications than the inward method of meditation. These days the Gayatri Mantra is popular and is played out loud in many modern cities. People are waking up to the fact that sanskrit mantras spoken out loud have a beneficial influence on the surrounding environment. They are used for their calming influence, for protection, and spiritual mantras act like a kind of Feng Shui. They create good vibes which encourages good things to happen in the surrounding environment. This metaphysical information is well known in Tibet.
Yoga is very popular these days. It is a gift from India which many people use to keep themselves supple and healthy. Nevertheless the esoteric use of yoga is to prepare the body for Kundalini safely. Raising the Kundalini is a dangerous road, like playing with an atomic weapon, and much care and skill is required if the initiate is going to survive it and come through it in a healthy state of mind.
Much wisdom is contained in the sacred scriptures such as the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. The sutras shows one how to have a life of balance and shines the light on a spiritual lifestyle. It is a metaphysical fact the more spiritual you become the more psychic you get. Here psychic refers to visions, intuitions, guidance and an inner knowing that has greater benefits than outside counsel.
The musical group The Doors penned the musical phrase “break on through to the other side…” which is a very dangerous game if you use external substances. Many a rock musician has tried this and their mind has been unable to recover from the shock. The reason for this is because if one is going to explore different states of consciousness, and other dimensions, before the exploration you better have a solid and deep spiritual foundation to come back to which acts like a buffer and keeps your sanity intact.
The Vedic texts, thousands of years ago, speak of this danger. They mention the pitfalls to avoid and how to do it. A healthy, and balanced, lifestyle is a must for any psychic gift otherwise it is bye bye Charlie for the psychic one and before he knows it his soul is corrupted to the nth degree.
The Goddess Kali
The Goddess Kali is one of the great Hindu gods. Kali is more than a myth. She represents forces on Earth that include water, earth, and fire. In ancient sanskrit thought there was much knowledge about collective karma of all the races living on earth and their destiny which was linked to how well they lived their lives.
The Goddess Kali is a reflection of the karma and thought patterns of our current civilization. The Goddess is like a mirror. It shows us our true nature. If we are good people she is good and shows us gratitude by spreading plenty of sunshine, good crops, and abundant opportunity. Alternatively if we abuse our earth mother, Gaia, the Goddess Kali gives back what we ourselves give out in the form of earth changes, tidal waves, earthquakes, and famine as signs that we recognize the dark shadow we all carry deep inside ourselves. The deeper esoteric traits of Kali are very interesting and by clicking here you can read my original tale on the Goddess Kali and esoteric karma.
Enlightened Yogi
One of my favorite books of all time is AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF A YOGI by Paramahansa Yogananda. When I was starting out on my spiritual quest this book became my second bible. Its spiritual food fed me often. It is specifically written for the modern reader and it contains a lot of esoteric wisdom and insight. It is also an easy book to read.
It is a fascinating life story of a modern Yogi but it has something more to it that is not printed in words. Reading Yogananda’s life makes you want to become spiritual yourself. When a book has been blessed by a great guru, that is a highly realized being, this is the energy the printed words resonate. Get a copy, read it, as it will bring much good into your life.
India’s Beautiful Legacy
India is a very old continent and its Vedic literature, written by the wise old Rishis of an age long forgotten, are a gift to the modern man and woman. Many of life’s deepest questions have already been answered by the ancient Vedas. Let us enjoy this bounty of sacred wisdom and make use of this wonderful legacy our brothers of India have left for our benefit.
