A therapist I know was talking with me. The topic of discussion was an American author and speaker. Much of the public looked up to him as a Guru. I admired his material, even though not a die hard fan, liked the way he got his message through to the public.

This Guru created his own blend of self help methods and marketed them very well. A bit of NLP, a smattering of yoga, a touch of wisdom from the sacred texts of the East, he put a little of everything into his system including the kitchen sink.

Who knows about the psychic medium and the guru?

“Mr Guru is coming to our city and doing a seminar,” I said to my therapist friend, and continued ” He has helped a lot of people in the personal development area and is doing good work.”

” What !” was the surprised monosyllable, “Somebody has to bring this Guru’s career down !”

His reply shocked me.

Bring his career down? What a nasty thing to say. It made me think of how some people like to pull others down. It made me wonder what is inside of some people that creates these negative reactions and destructive emotions. Destroying a career so as to get some satisfaction comes from a very dark place. This dark place inside a person is looking to be fed by acts of destruction. Causing pain, fear, and pulling others down is how it is fed. It also has to justify its own lack of success and feel better by acting harmful towards others.

The people going to the Guru’s seminar is a positive thing. It is positive in the sense that the ones who go along to a seminar have an open mind. They are willing to learn. This it the first step in any personal improvement plan. The willingness to admit that you do not know everything and are keen to learn new things is a major step forward. Many think they know everything and thus they learn nothing. My motto is I LEARN FROM EVERYONE I MEET.
