P D Ouspensky is the author of THE PSYCHOLOGY OF MAN’S POSSIBLE EVOLUTION. He also, I jealously say, had the good fortune to live with and be trained by one of the greatest esoteric beings in the last one hundred years, a Mr G.I.Gurdjieff himself. The book itself is small, and easy to read, made up of a series of lectures given by Ouspensky.
Can I share something with you that is unusual, does not make sense, but is as true a statement as the I can be certain that the sun is going to rise tomorrow morning? I learned more about spiritual life and esoteric information from this little worn out book than two years in my esoteric circle.
The key learning is not hard. But it is our ego that prevents our growth. As soon as we think we know it all we stop learning. Life comes along and whacks us over the head with a club, so to speak. We have two choices, we can harden or hearts and ignore the messages, or become soft and listen to the signs our life journey is showing us. I know the softer way is the one I prefer.
I can see, in my mind’s eye, a high powered speaker going out and ordering the book on Amazon. Then reading THE PSYCHOLOGY OF MAN’S POSSIBLE EVOLUTION chapter by chapter and taking notes. Next he will package this information into modules which make up his personal development seminar. Then go out and charge 90 bucks per person to listen to him. Hey Sir! If you get this idea from me, I don’t want your money, but at least buy me dinner!
