Self Talk

How we talk to ourselves makes a big difference. Self talk is the constant stream of talking going on in our heads. By paying attention to this inner verbal chatter we can decipher how we treat ourselves.

We often absorb the negative self talk of others. This is especially true when growing up as children. The trouble is when we are adults these negative scripts are still running around in our heads causing us to act in negative ways. We can change this if we want.



Gentleness

The way to approach negative self talk is to be gentle with yourself and have some patience and softness. Many things were forced upon us when growing up and even though at the time they looked to be for our welfare the reality is they were more destructive than good.

It is not a perfect world but by introducing more gentleness into our nature we love ourselves more and then treat ourselves far better. We gradually approach perfection more and more with a healthy self respect.
