Customer Service Stuff Ups

Anyways I had to go and pay some bills. Don’t we all? Here I am standing in line at a location of commerce and waiting patiently.

Despite the cold building, its boring surroundings, and lack of warmth this institution is filled with real people trying to give their best customer service.

I find that the people who work in large institutions are real live human beings and not machines. We need to treat them with respect and compassion. It is the systems that corrupt people from the top down.

I used to work in the corporate world. The workers at the cold face get shot at but it is their management above them that is to blame for any mistakes because it is the decisions of management that set activities in action.

Staff Do their Best

I have a motto if there is ever a problem with customer service I do not look at the upstanding staff member doing their job. I LOOK UP TO the ones in managament for the cause of the stuff up.

Back to the human line 25 people in length. A nice gentlemen turned around to face me and muttered, ” Been waiting here ten minutes now! “

” Yes,” I said, “The customer service line is a bit slow today.” Some of the good people standing with us were losing patience. I could tell by the look of tension and beads of sweat running down their faces.

I glanced at my watch and noted the time. The gentleman standing in front made some small talk which I was glad to listen to since it relieved the boredom of the line somewhat.

Frustration

Twenty minutes later my new friend reached the front desk and was being served by a member of staff. The customer service representative informed him he was in the wrong line! He had to go and line up again in a different section to complete his transaction. There goes half an hour down the drain.

I felt sorry for him. He wasted the best part of half an hour for nothing. Plus he received a dose of frustration in the process. It doesn’t seem fair.

Waiting in Line Phenomena

A wise sage once said LIVE EVERYDAY AS IF IT WAS YOUR LAST . The sage says this because of knowing about the futility of the waiting in line phenomena.

Just think about it. We go to school and are told to work hard so we can get a good job. After, if we are lucky, we get the good job and we are encouraged to get a loan to buy a house and pay it off for the rest of our lives.

Encouraged to work hard we are told to look forward to our senior pension and retirement. What is next? Death in an attractive coffin. All of this kind of life experience is really waiting in line, just so we can enter upon another line of no satisfaction.

Asking for Something Better

If we want to get out and escape the BORING LINE OF LIFE we can. But we have to ask for it first. We can have a better life. It is not easy but we can achieve it. That is what this blog is all about.
