We live in a world with no honor. Broken promises, insufficient means to get things done, and disappointment are the common lot of the modern living experience. It is hard to live in a world of broken promises. What can we do about it if anything?
I have some good news for you. Living a life of honor begins with you. I know this might sound like a bit of a spiritual cliche, it is in a sense, but like most overused cliches there is some truth in it. You are going to be let down. This is a fact. Let us have a look at how we can become empowered in life , with our own HONOR CODES OF SPIRIT, no matter what the life circumstance. Many times the experience of the world travels in one direction, while our desires run in the opposite direction, causing frustration and anger.
One of the most extreme new age retreat stories, as told to me by a friend living in an Australian ashram, begins with a workshop leader facilitating a retreat in the Himalayan Alps showing a group of twenty followers the ins and outs of the spiritual path.
My ashram friend went on to say a part of this seminar retreat experience involved the seminar leader throwing all of the luggage of the participants off a cliff. When the participants in the Himalaya seminar, after seeing their belongings tumble down to the deep valley below, asked the seminar facilitator to explain this shocking action he replied calmly, ” This will teach you about non attachment in life .”
Often the results we achieve in day to day living are as surprising and unexpected as the one of the luggage being thrown off the cliff as told by my ashram friend. Let us shine some light upon how we can get better outcomes than this as bad luck, suffering and pain, are no fun and only bring you down. We need something positive to hold that gives us hope and comfort. We can begin by looking at our lives and living with honor codes.
This Fine Action I Do…
Honor codes of spirit are made from right action, right thinking, and can only bring happiness and good fortune.
* When you give your word to someone you must keep it. Breaking a promise creates suffering for the other party and this karma comes back to you which must then be lived through, by you, until the karma is burned away. There is an easier way to do things. Make fewer promises!
*Only build up the reputation of others. If anyone tries to tear , or ruin, someone else’s reputation you will have no part in it. The bad luck for you that is generated by pulling someone else down is enormous. You will suffer the same, only much worse, until the metaphysical lesson is learned.
*Only promote good information. Truth stays and the false will fall away. Many careers around the world, in all countries, with all kinds of different ages and backgrounds, are falling down now because these careers are built on phony values. The quickening energy of today will no longer support this kind of false energy. It can only fall down as a house of cards is unstable like these careers built on false information. You will be surprised how many influential and well known individuals stumble and trip over in the next few months.
*Think well of others. If you catch yourself imagining harm to another stop the thought immediately. Keeping a vigilant watch upon your thoughts will make certain your actions are of the highest standard since thoughts > lead to actions. Try sending love to another person you, ummm… perhaps, dislike. Is it really too much of a mental challenge? Maybe we all do not have the spiritual elevation that we think we have.
*Spells, hexes, and curses. Don’t even go here. If you have paid someone to put a curse upon another, and it is more common than you might think even in Western culture, your destiny is trapped and only bad luck will come your way. You have created a hell for yourself while living on earth. Sorry for the bad news but I am only interested in truth.
*Do little positive actions. Small daily actions build your energy. Clean the house, ring a friend and cheer her up, and write an email. The action of a positive small victory creates a good energy that lifts you and propels you forward.
The Age of Kali Yuga
This age that we now live in, being the year 2010, is known to spiritual adepts as the age of the Kali Yuga. It means the age of spiritual ignorance and lack of truthful information. Have a look around you, in your life and in the lives of others, do you agree with this statement or disagree?
It is a shame there is so much false information around these days to lead one astray. Begin to filter out what is useful for you and discard the rest. Don’t get angry and do something silly. Leave it to the side and focus on the positive aspects of living. There is much positive creative energy around now and it is wasteful not to use it. Use honor codes of spirit. They will assist you.
