Career Change at Middle Age
It is not easy to change a career at any age, whether you are middle age or in your twenties, professional career change is a major life challenge. Fear holds many people back and stops them dead in their tracks. I know the feeling. I have experienced major shifts in my own career.
A career in the corporate world, followed by one as a professional yoga instructor, and now as an international psychic coaching people and acting as a guide to changing careers has given me plenty of experience and insight into this modern day trend. One of the best ways to assist career change at middle age is to use the internet to help you to do it. More about this later on.
One of the key insights I wish to share with you is the relationship between following your passion and having a successful job, work life, and career. Many self development gurus call it following your passion, which leads to happiness, and they are right. I like to call it knowing your soul purpose. You will find what you are passionate about fits in nicely, and is usually aligned, with your soul purpose.
The life pathway to be 40 after career change, or 50 after career change, follows the same pattern for everyone regardless of age. It is as follows:
*Dissatisfaction with the current work one is doing
*Decision to move careers and into a more rewarding kind of work
*Action steps to change career direction
*A transition period of moving into work you love to do
*Full time enjoyment of new career change after transition is complete

Dissatisfaction with Current Work
The current school system has its good and bad points. The bad side of education is you tend to become very specialized in one area of activity and this makes career change very difficult. New skills have to learned again and you are starting from scratch one more time at middle age.
This turns many people off and I can understand this feeling. It takes effort, planning, and energy to begin a new career. Many find it worthwhile because the love of the activity is enough in itself to drive you. To do a job you love, and get paid for it, is the closest thing to heaven on earth.
Decision to Move a Career
This step is very much about inward reflection and coming to terms with what you really wish to experience in life. You have arrived at the understanding that joy in work is just as important as other any other factor and know internally you are selling your self short if you continue to engage in work you hate.
Many other mixed feelings arise such as, for example, coming to the realization you are only doing this kind of career to please your parents and you were never asked about your dreams to work in a career you really love. This one is very common. I have come across it often during my psychic readings with clients. It is a major empowerment victory to understand, to forgive, and then move on to something you consider far more rewarding.
Action Steps
We all struggle with the different thoughts we have to keep going but action is an essential step. Action is important and it helps if you have a career change consultant to guide you so that your action steps are all congruent with your inner desires and taking you where you truly wish to go.

If you are passionate about what you do and really love it then it will not seem like work anyway. Work becomes fun. You enjoy getting up in the morning since you have a career you can have fun with and share it with others. Life is too short not to enjoy it.
